Precious Moments

It only took me about 20 hours to really realize what a great moment I had last night when I was sitting at the computer doing some work when my 12 year old son, child #6, walked by and asked what I was doing. So for once I told him to come sit in my lap and give me some help.

He sat on my lap, we did some work and took a test together. We had some fun. I knew it was a good moment at the time but for some reason, it really didn't hit me until the drive home exactly how special of a time that was.

Time goes by too fast when it comes to these special things we can do. I hope I don't let too many of them pass by and not take advantage of them.

Experts offer 10 back-to-school tips for parents

Well school is starting up today for the vast majority of areas today. There are many concerns we have as parents as we send our little ones off to school. For those sending their children off for the first time, here are some tips that you may want to look at as written in this newspaper article, but to highlight them, here they are:
1. What can I do if I don't like my child's teacher?
2. How do I help my child balance extracurricular activities and school work?
3. What's the best way to get a meaningful answer to "How was school today?'
4. What's the best way for me to get involved at my child's school without being one of those overbearing parents?
5. How much help should I be giving my child with homework?
6. Where can I find the information I need to make sure my special-needs child is getting the necessary services?
7. How do I ease my child's first-day jitters?
8. What do I do about a child who hates school?
9. What instructions should I give to my child who walks to school?
10. How do I know if my child's teacher is any good?

Finally heard from son in Guatemala

Well today, after 4 days of my son being in Guatemala he called to let us know a little of what has been going on. With just the little that he was able to tell us I am continually blessed knowing I am in the best country of all. Yes I am more than proud to be an American, no I am not trying to steal this line from the song we all know. He told us a very short story of how their guide was robbed and pistol whipped as he seperated from the group for only a couple minutes. Yes things like this happen all the time here in the states but I think we are all too comportable even here in the states and take for granted how much safer we are in comparison.

He will be coming back in 4 days so I will load a few photos from his mission trip.

Guatemala, Here Comes My Son

Well today my 2nd son left for Guatemala on a week long mission trip. I am excited for him to be able to have this experience and look forward to the happenings that take place. Hopefully I will be able to add some pictures of some of the things they did and sights they were able to see.

Dad knows best......Right?

Going to give an attempt at a Dad Blog.
I have a little experience here. Well I have 7 children, at this time ages range from 9 to 19 years of age. You talk about a busy house. My wife is wounderful in many ways, the simple fact that she can keep up with all of them is nothing short of a miricle.

Just a simple starting post here to get things going.
